"I enjoyed this story! It is a bit typical in regards to the alien's female population are barren due to being poisoned during a war. In order to procreate their leader goes to "the pit" to get a female to breed with. It's either "insta-love" or "instinct and fate" on the hero's part but it takes a bit of time for the human heroine to come around - No real surprise as she was kidnapped and chained while waiting for the winner of the pit fight to claim her.
I liked the interaction between the hero and heroine as well as the other characters in the book. Please be warned though - if you don't care for numerous hot and steamy bedroom scenes then this book is definitely not for you!"

The Alien Prize A SciFi Alien Warrior Romance Warriors of Luxiria Book 1 eBook Zoey Draven Reviews
- I am so happy to have 'stumbled across this author/story. Ms Draven's writing such a pleasure to read. The story and character development are beautifully done; no one is over the top, or too wishy-washy, or have qualities that are unbelievable or unattractive. The H and h are both very appealing and believable characters. There is drama and angst, but not so much that it stalls the story line or makes it out of character. Kate is someone that could be any one of us; she is average without seeming average. Vaxa is a delicious alpha male without turning it into a caricature that so many writers have a tendency to do. Their relationship is sweet, funny, smexy, and just plain enjoyable.
Besides the story and character development the writing itself was SOLID. I mean, the editing was done very well. This author knew about sentence structure. I know it might seem trivial(but it isn't!) talking about sentence and paragraph structure, punctuation, etc., but my God, some of the books coming out now have the worst editing- or no editing- done to them, and it is an insult to not only;y the reader but the author as well.
This book is an extremely all-around well done book, and I cannot wait for the next one. I really can't wait to read about Vaxa's War Generals and going back to the slave arena. A couple have already caught my eye.....
Ms. Draven, Brava on a beautiful job with your first book! Congrats, and please keep them coming! - Nope.....not for me. There were many things that disgusted me about this story. The fact she is naked in the pit so that they can see the goods. The fact that they are kidnapped as sex slaves with no one getting freedom in the end except the female lead while all the others will keeping abused and disposed of when they are uased up. Plus, the whole submissive didn't come through for me because she had been in a violent scenario which sours the whole situation because she has no say, no way to escape. She just lets being horny over rule brain cells and kills off many, i believe. I would have fought to bitter end. There would have to be some proof of love which you don't get it is all about sex. Not really a romantic situation nor a romance story to me.
Also, it is a contradiction to have a group in a story who know they have soul mates, true mates, their other half out there and allow them to be man-whores as well as not want their mate because they are to busy f-ing all other females. I was disgusted. I don't care if other people agree with me. I bought the book and read, therefore I am giving my opinion of what I like. I try to read reviews to figure out if a book will have that component or not. It is hard to tell sometimes. If I know ahead of time, I will not buy it. I wish I had not bought this one. - I enjoyed this story! It is a bit typical in regards to the alien's female population are barren due to being poisoned during a war. Please be warned though - if you don't care for numerous hot and steamy bedroom scenes then this book is definitely not for you! - This is the BEST sci-fi romance novel I've read in a very long time! It was so good, in fact, that although I intially starting reading it for free through my kindle unlimited subscription, halfway through the story, I purchased my own copy. And I would've happily paid quite a bit more to own this book.
I love the kindle unlimited subscription service because it lets me try out lots of new writers for less up-front cost, but the flip side of that coin is that the majority of the authors are novices and their work is often unpolished. "The Alien's Prize" proved to be the rare exception to this rule. The story was engaging and the main characters were both charming and believable. The world building was interesting, although the details were a little too sketchy for my preferences. I would have liked to hear more about the history of Luxiria and I wish the book had been a little longer.
If you like science fiction/fantasy romances, then this book is for you. I highly recommend it for fans of Evangeline Anderson, Christine Feehan, Dara Joy or Ruby Dixon.
I wish the author had already published at least a dozen or so books in this series for me to immediately dive into! - Great start to a new series from an author attempting a new genre. I got this book on Unlimited and chose to buy it to show support for this author's debut into Sci-fi. I can't wait for book two. The author provided good world building and character development. But she didn't overwhelm with a lot of needless filler. It was as if she was giving us a glimpse into this brand new world. The story ends by the hero trying to correct the wrongs of where the story began. This left me with a sense of anticipation for the next book. I had some unanswered questions that will be answered as the series progresses. Questions about the brother and the lost tribe or how they will help fix the wrongs committed against human females. So many ways this story could go...I can't wait. Thumbs up to the author for good storytelling!
